Maori art is a vibrant and dynamic part of the Maori people that has undergone huge transformations since European arrival to New Zealand. They brought with them new materials and techniques that Maori quickly adopted and developed to put a unique spin on the world of Maori art. This book describes two new innovations to Maori weaving never seen before. Firstly, the combination of the European technique of loom weaving using traditional Maori weaving materials in the creation of a collection of unique cloaks. Secondly, the use of computer-aided loom weaving to produce the traditional t niko (finger weaving) style of adornment.
